The Polluted Love of the Asbury Revival

Subtle and deceptive brainwashing from the New Age Ecumenical Church. Revival requires repentance and sanctification.

Asbury Revival Sermon Bullet Points

(EDIT: original embed was removed, oddly, but this is the same recording)

This is NOT a true revival sermon, and I would even call it deceptive.
Here are the bullets:

  • Do you love me?

  • There’s a difference between fleshly love, and the love of others.

  • Romans 12:9-21 KJV

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

    Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

    Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

    Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

  • We are hypocrites.

  • Do you love your enemies?

  • There are different types of Love.

  • Many types of Love have been polluted, and are abusive.

  • Some of you have experienced polluted Love in the Church.

  • If you have experienced polluted Love, then we are here for you.

  • (prays for those who have experienced polluted Love in the Church)

  • We need to give preference to one another… this is the Word of God.

  • We are not celebrating or journeying with one another.

  • You can’t love the way Romans 12 talks about, until you are loved by Jesus.

  • If you are not becoming more like Jesus, you need to question your Love.

  • Do not leave this school, without learning this kind of Love.

  • (prays for students to become “love in-action”)

On the surface, Romans 12 is weaved throughout this message, which makes it seem like there is no way there could be anything weird going on, here.
However, there are a variety of red flags, which make one question the intent.
Who is he talking to, here? Because it’s oddly specific.
He talks about “Polluted Love”, and giving “preference”, and “celebrating” one another, which seems to subtly include these victims he references, and then asserts a redefining of the Love of Christ.
There is some Truth in there, but this is very subtle brainwashing.
I had to listen to this sermon twice, but the first time, as soon as he started popping-off some of these key terms, I suspected a woke slant.
The second time I listened, I made the bullet-points, above, so that I could be clear on exactly what is being taught.
Is this a message of repentance and sanctification, or is this a message designed to push cultural and social acceptance into the church?
As it turns-out, there is some measure of Sodomite presence in this church.

New Age influence at the Asbury Revival?

(previous video may have been flagged by woke-folk… replacement pending)

So, when he says “pollution”, what he might be doing is rebuking any past churches or God Fearing people who have spoken-out against Sodomy.
When he says “preference”, he might be telling the members to draw closer to the attending Sodomites in the church.
When he refers to “celebrating” certain people, it almost sounds like pride.
It’s interesting that he reaffirms his line on “preference” by saying it’s the Word of God, perhaps because he knows his angle is a little off, there.
We are called to witness to unbelievers outside of any assembly of the Saints, which is evangelism, and it’s true that unbelievers may come to an assembly to learn, but it is imperative that sanctification and repentance are well-established, because if they bring the world into the Church, Men will give it preeminence over the Word of God, which is arguably the biggest problem in modern church, today.

1 Corinthians 14:23–24 KJV
If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

While most handle this verse in reference to speaking in tongues; which is a past gift of the Holy Ghost to speak in different languages, and was only given as a confirmation of the testimony of the Gospel to foreign nations; what I want to highlight, here, is the fact that it is acceptable for unbelievers to attend the assembly, but in other passages, it is made clear that repentance and sanctification are an expectation, if an unbeliever seeks fellowship.

1 Corinthians 11:16–19 KJV
But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

1 Corinthians 11:27–29 KJV
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

Gospel of Acceptance and not Repentance

So, let me take this a step further, and let’s argue that sodomy, or otherwise woke appeasement, wasn’t even a part of this equation.
The new age ecumenical church is still a huge problem, because what they do is clothe their teaching in Biblical terms, whilst promoting the self.

There’s a difference between the promotion of self-acceptance and pseudo-biblical love, versus repentant self-denial and sanctification.

Jesus taught from town to town, proclaiming the Word of the Lord, and showing many signs and wonders to confirm his proclamation.
He would sometimes answer a couple questions, according to the scriptures, but he was always on-the-move to the next town.

John 2:23–25 KJV
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

John 7:1 KJV
After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

Matthew 26:1–4 KJV
And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,
Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

He did not stick-around to strive, and he did not stick-around to get stoned to death, when folks became so convicted that they plotted to kill him.
The Love of Christ is sacrificial and serving, but Jesus fled from all of the violence that was intended against him, until his appointed time.
They were pricked in the reins to do violence, because people hate the Truth.

Proverbs 27:5 KJV
Open rebuke is better than secret love.

Revelation 3:15–16 KJV
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Revelation 3:19–20 KJV
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Grace is a free gift, but it’s a gift that has to be accepted, and to receive that gift we are expected to turn away from the world, and seek Christ.
The subtle deception of modern church teaching is in how the world has slipped its foot into the alteration of key terms for Biblical virtues or Spirits.
Terms like love, understanding, wisdom, judgment, faith, and many others.
The world says #nojudgment, and the modern church says the same thing, in the name of love, but the Bible says judge with righteous judgment.

John 7:24 KJV
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Psalm 119:160 KJV
Thy word is true from the beginning:
And every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

Deuteronomy 5:1 KJV
And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.

Isaiah 1:17–20 KJV
Learn to do well; Seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, Judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
But if ye refuse and rebel, Ye shall be devoured with the sword: For the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Psalm 119:7 KJV
I will praise thee with uprightness of heart,
When I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.

The world moans that it just wants to be understood, and brings railing accusation against the God Fearing, that they do not discern the supposed “righteous” intents of their heart, and the modern church agrees with them… in the name of love, and with the excuse that they might win some.
How can you win those who do not Fear God, who will not take up their cross and follow after Christ, and die to this world?
True understanding is the Knowledge of the Holy…

Proverbs 9:10 KJV
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom:
And the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

1 John 1:6 KJV
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

Romans 3:23 KJV
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Proverbs 18:2 KJV
A fool hath no delight in understanding,
But that his heart may discover itself.

Matthew 16:24–25 KJV
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Luke 9:62 KJV
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

The Theatre of Modern Revival

Revival is repentance and sanctification, but pretty much every instance of "revival" I'm aware-of, in modern times, is essentially sensual entertainment.
Communion with God comes through the Spirit of his Word, not through the ebbs and flows of your feelings, or secularized Christian culture.
Charismatics and Pentecostals are basically cults, which try to use the Spirit of God in a sensual manner.
If you are involved in those denominations, you need to come-out from among them, and be ye separate!

When you store the Word of God in your heart... from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh... and our mouths ought to be speaking Scripture, and not vanity and confusion, and exhortation to what is basically congregated sensual basking.
I'm all for letting the light of Christ shine before men, but is it Christ, or is it just personal vanity, and social attention seeking?
I’m all for public praise and worship and glorification of the Lord… that’s certainly something to celebrate, and not something I want to ever quench, but are we really looking at contrite praise, or is it just a medium for sensual emotionalism, like a lot of other ecumenical new age movements?

Ezekiel 13:1–8 KJV
And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the Lord;
Thus saith the Lord God; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!
O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.
Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the Lord.
They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The Lord saith: and the Lord hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.
Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The Lord saith it; albeit I have not spoken?
Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord God.

Sanctification means seeking God's Word, cutting-out idols, cleansing our hands ye sinners and purifying our hearts ye double minded, pivoting our talents to glorify the Word of God to bring forth fruit worthy of repentance, and taking up our cross to follow Jesus every single day.
Pretty much ALL of Ezekial 13 KJV is relevant, here.
We live in a time when social media prophets affirm things that are lies and vanity, among whom is hardly the Word of the Lord between them to form a butter knife, nonetheless the Sword of the Spirit, which is the tongue of Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 49:1–2 KJV
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; the Lord hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;

Revelation 1:16–18 KJV
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me,
Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Revelation 2:16 KJV
Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Revelation 19:15–16 KJV
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

I grew up listening to New Age heretics, and subtle deceivers, and if they had their way, I would still be waiting for them to give me something to do, grieved in my heart for the dissemination of their confusion.
It’s all theatre, bereft of the Spirit of God, and it may have an audience for a season, but by the Word of God, it will be cut to ribbands.
There will come a great falling away, and the tares shall be revealed from among the wheat.

Matthew 7:20–23 KJV
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 13:24–25 KJV
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

Matthew 13:30 KJV
Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

John 15:5–6 KJV
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

John 17:3 KJV
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Revival Red Flags

How can a revival come from a sermon as dead as this?
This is not a revival of sanctification FROM the world, but a revival of what the Bible calls “the old man”, with joy and excitement for the embrace of secular love and affection, preference, and celebration of the self, and not of the Word of God to repentance and sanctification.
It is a very different gospel to proclaim a Jesus of acceptance and tolerance.
Jesus wants all sinners to come to repentance.
The difference is life and death.

(video removed… replacement pending)

Matthew 4:17 KJV
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matthew 9:13 KJV
But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9 KJV
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Thessalonians 2:11–14 KJV
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What does True Revival look like?

As a younger man, I felt very convicted to go to these kinds of events, but they always revealed that they are vain avenues for entertainment.
There's an initial sense of excitement, but it is always followed by an emptiness, and a grief, because it is sensual in nature, not Spiritual.
People talk about "revival", like it's some kind of drug they can inject into their arm. I've heard more people talk about "revival", and political church culture, than the Word of God. They use all that talk to justify themselves, and their sense of holiness, rather than exalt God's Word.
People simply being in agreement with you, and joining your local fan club, is not the same as holiness, or sanctification, or producing fruit, etc.

In order for real revival to happen, you have to have a speaker who proclaims the Word of the Lord like a thunderbolt, and not with any sort of vanity or pretense, but in the sincerity of God’s Word, according to the Truth.
When was in my mid-twenties, this was the video that helped me to begin to understand the fundamental nature of the scriptures:

(this video uses stereo, so you need headphones to hear the panning)

What especially convicted me was the preaching of Paris Reidhead, who taught that many people try to use God as an end to their ambitions, rather than coming to an end of themselves.
He referred to it as “Post-Modern Humanism”, or “Utilitarian Christianity”.
While I now have even more knowledge of the scriptures, and would not necessarily endorse everything Paris Reidhead teaches, I still think this is one of the most powerful revival sermons you can find, to-date:

Even though I have pursued God from childhood, when I fully understood the inerrancy of the Scripture, my heart was softened, and my eyes were opened, like never before, and since then the Spirit of the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God, has only intensified in me, through his Word, and ONLY through his Word.

Hebrews 4:12 KJV
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

2 Corinthians 10:3–6 KJV
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Deuteronomy 32:4 KJV
He is the Rock, his work is perfect:
For all his ways are judgment:
A God of truth and without iniquity,
Just and right is he.

Psalm 33:4 KJV
For the word of the Lord is right;
And all his works are done in truth.

John 17:17 KJV
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Revelation 19:13 KJV
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Luke 4:4 KJV
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

1 Corinthians 15:21–22 KJV
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

John 6:62–63 KJV
What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Signs and wonders are a fine confirmation, but God is still God, whether or not we see miraculous signs.
The Absolute Objective Empirical Truth is Jesus, and Jesus is the Word of God made flesh, and the Word of God is Eternal Life.

Matthew 12:39–40 KJV
But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Matthew 16:4 KJV
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

Stop looking for revival. Stop looking for a sign and a wonder.
Stop being such a stiff-necked and a rebellious people.
It is vain, and it makes you sound like you don’t even know the power of the Word of God, or understand the scripture, at-all.

Deuteronomy 31:26–29 KJV
Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the Lord; and how much more after my death?
Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.
For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

People are saying… well, we’ll just see what happens from all this!
Is it not clear that everyone is essentially looking for the growth of a cult?
Again, if you are involved in these kinds of cults, you need to come-out from among them, and be ye separate.

Romans 10:21 KJV
But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

The only way repentance and sanctification are possible, at a large scale, is if the hearts of an entire culture are broken by severe conviction.
To be frank, I think it’s only possible at a personal level, because I think the love of many is waxing cold, and most people are too slothful to learn the knowledge of the holy, and too comfortable in their sin to have any desire to cast it off, and seek Christ.

I think the great falling away is hasting toward us, in these last days, and the cup of the Whore of Babylon is nearly filled-up with the blood of the Saints.
Churches, today, are cultural fan clubs… they are not prepared for the coming persecution… they will flee from the wrath of the man to come…
They will fear the Anti-Christ, and not the Lord of Hosts, unless they repent.

Matthew 3:7–10 KJV
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

I have much more to offer in my Biblical Wisdom Video Playlist, as well.
I cannot endorse everything taught by these teachers I have shared, but they are still some of the most sincere, and powerful testimonies I have found.
Above all is God’s Word, which is in the scriptures I have given, here.
I have a fervent zeal that you will be filled with the Word of God, and that from the abundance of your heart, you will testify of that which is right.
May God bless you, and make you strong in the Fear of the Lord.

Psalm 69:8–9 KJV
I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.
For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

Jeremiah 29:11–13 KJV
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Matthew 7:7–8 KJV
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Daniel 4:37 KJV
Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

2 Corinthians 6:14–7:1 KJV
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
